When Avril Lavigne exchanged vows with ex-husband Derek Whibley back in 2009, she stunned everyone by walking down the aisle in a tissue organza Vera Wang gown – without any hint of her badass rocker style.
This time around, she’s changing things up a bit.
OK! sat down with the singer-songwriter and Abbey Dawn designer during New York Fashion Week to talk about all things fashion – and that included her wedding dress.
“I will go fancy, but not as traditional as last time – not just a big white poufy dress,” Avril revealed. “Kind of like the opposite,” she laughed.
On August 21, Avril and Nickelback’s Chad Kroegerwowed the world (and even his parents!) with the news of their surprise engagement. Since then, the designer has been working hard on her Spring 2013 Abbey Dawn collection runway show. So, it only makes sense that Avril would play a part in the design of her own wedding dress, right?
“I am thinking I would probably have to design it,” she told OK!. “It would probably be a collaboration with somebody that has a dress that I find that I like.” When it comes to just how much of a collaboration her gown will be, Avril explained, “I’ll probably change the colors up and take one piece from one wedding dress and another.”
“I am already taking clippings from magazines and thinking about what it is I want to wear,” she confessed. “I think it will be something where I grab a few different dresses, dye them, cut them and make them my own thing.”
The singer just wants to “do something to it so no one else has it.”
